Precious Évora
125€
per personAs a result of the destruction of Lisbon during the 1755 earthquake, the historic center of Évora – World Heritage Site – is considered the best example of the Portuguese golden age city. Come with us and discover the best of Évora!
Situated in the heart of the Alentejo, less than two hours from Lisbon, Évora was an important Roman city named Liberalitas Julia. However, this region has significant traces of human occupation since prehistoric times. The excellently preserved artistic and architectural heritage accumulated over centuries is one of the many reasons to visit Évora .
Évora is also one of the main gastronomic destinations in Portugal, where the flavours of the earth’s products, such as bread, olive oil or coriander, are the basis of the recognized quality of its cuisine. A destination that you can’t skip.

Morning
- Departure from Lisbon after breakfast. We cross the Tejo River traveling to Évora, an historic city in the heart of the Alentejo. After crossing the city walls we star visiting the charming public garden, where you can see the “fake ruins”, D.Manuel's palace and a huge number of peacocks walking freely.
- “We bones you see by yours we wait!”. This is the warning you can read at the entrance of the unusual Chapel of Bones, which we will visit before the Church of San Francisco. Let us continue our discovery wandering through the streets of the beautiful historical center of Évora, surprising ourselves with the smells and smiles of the Alentejo people until we reach the Giraldo Square. We visit the Church of Santo Antão and turn to the towering Cathedral, a work of Romanesque-Gothic transition. The ascent to its tower gives us a gorgeous view over the whole city.
- And the time has come to delight yourself with the unforgettable flavours and spices of Alentejo cuisine.
Afternoon
- After lunch, we continue the tour visiting one of Évora's illustrated postcards - the Roman temple - which is located at one of the highest points in the city. Walking through the medieval area of the city, we head towards Aviz Gate.
- Let´s proceed our tour to the monumental Silver Aqueduct, one of the most monumental work of art carried out in the city during the first half of the 16th century. Following the aqueduct along the Cano street, we can observe the houses nestled under the spans of its stone arches.
- The time has come to experience the endless pleasure of Alentejo wines. Let's taste some of the wonderful Alentejo wines as we get to know a bit more about their production. Before returning to Lisbon, we will have a snack and delight ourselves with the typical conventual sweets of the region.
Would you like to include a horse ride in your trip? A jet sky tour on the river? Enjoy a relaxing massage in contact with nature? And why not a romantic dinner? Or maybe learn how to dance the traditional minho dance - the vira?
