Day 1: Oporto - São Leonardo de Galafura – Peso da Régua – Lamego – Tarouca – Pinhão
- After breakfast, departure to Peso da Régua. First stop will be at the viewpoint of São Leonardo de Galafura. Amazing views of which Miguel Torga took care of immortalizing. It is "a keel of a boat in the middle of the valley, with water on all sides", wrote the poet.
- Régua has its origin in the Roman presence, but it is from the 18th century, with the creation of a regulatory body by the Marquis of Pombal, that this town enters the history with the construction of the headquarters of the General Company of Agriculture of the vineyards of the Alto Douro.
- We follow toward the Marian Sanctuary and staircase of Nossa dos Remédios in Lamego attributed to the Florentine architect Nicolau Nasoni, who forms a beautiful ensemble where architecture and nature are interconnected being an example of the rich baroque heritage of northern Portugal.
- From here we will set out to discover the monastery of São João de Tarouca in Tarouca travelling directly to the 12th century to meet the monks of Cistercian in the Douro who built their first convent as a consequence of the expansion of the French abbey of Claraval throughout Europe, with the support of King Afonso Henriques.
- Not far from this national monument, we will admire another unique national monument, the fortified bridge of Ucanha (13th century), unique in its kind in Portugal and a testimony to the feudal organization in the middle age.
Day2: Pinhão – São João da Pesqueira – São Salvador do Mundo belvedere – Oporto
- After breakfast, we will head towards the town of Pinhão on the EN222, always close to the Douro River. We enter the village of Pinhão by the road bridge designed by the French engineer Gustave Eiffel. Its railway station is a beautiful building, which facades are covered by 24 tile panels from 1930, representing naturalistic scenes from Douro..
- We return to the road and enter the village of São João da Pesqueira, a very old town that obtained a charter even before the creation of the Portuguese nationality. Encouraged by the spirit of the landscape, we take the road back to the extraordinary São Salvador do Mundo viewpoint. It is a spiritual place since the 16th century, surrounded by a restful forest cover between rocks and nine hermitages distributed until the summit, place where the vastness of the abrupt landscape is lost from sight.
- Back to Oporto, we will visit one of the historical farms in the Douro valley and have a taste some great Douro wines.
