Located in the center of Portugal, less than an hour away from Porto, Aveiro is a peculiar city thanks to its environmental characteristics. Crossed by several channels of the lagoon, the city can be visited by Moliceiro, a long, narrow and colorful boat. From the salt pans surrounding the city comes the salt produced in a handmade way. And if you like Art Nouveau, be aware that Aveiro is a member of the Réseau Art Nouveau Network. In Ílhavo, you can visit the maritime museum, and discover the connection of its people to cod fishing in Newfoundland and Greenland. Tasting cod is a must! And the celebration of flavors continues in Bairrada, with suckling pig and sparkling wine!

Day 1 - Morning: Oporto - Aveiro
After breakfast - Departure from Oporto (8.30h).
We begin our visit to Aveiro with a boat ride on a Moliceiro, through its urban canals. After the boat ride, we walked through the city streets following the Art Nouveau route. Aveiro owns some of the most interesting Art Nouveau buildings in Portugal! Let's discover some, like the Major Pessoa House or the City Museum. Walking along the central canal, we can admire the various bridges. Among them the Friendship Bridge, always covered by colorful ribbons! After visiting the cathedral, we head to the Mercado do Peixe, an area where there is no shortage of restaurants with good fish for lunch.
Afternoon: Aveiro
After lunch, delight yourself with one of the most famous specialties of traditional Portuguese pastry - the Ovos-Moles. Then we will visit the salt pans, where the sea salt is produced in a handmade way. You can also relax and enjoy a beach with a high concentration of salt water and a saline spa.
Return to the city center. Free evening and night. Accommodation in 4* hotel in BB.
Day 2 - Morning: Aveiro- Costa Nova - Ílhavo
Departure from Aveiro after breakfast (9.00h).
We head to Costa Nova where you will find colorful striped houses, between the Ria and the sea. Old haystacks where the fishermen used to keep their fishing tools. In Ílhavo, we will visit the maritime museum, an internationally awarded building due to its architecture. It is considered one of the 20 most spectacular museums in the world. Cod fishing is witnessed in some of the areas of this museum. After the museum, a visit to a local restaurant to eat a codfish dish is an essential experience.
Afternoon: Ílhavo- Sangalhos – Oporto
After lunch and a short walk in Ílhavo, we head to Anadia to visit the Aliança Underground Museum, a museum that combines art and wine, leveraging the cellars where the sparkling wine is aged to exhibit art collections (ceramics, tiles, among others).
