This trip is a dive in the history of the 2nd French invasion. It takes us to Chaves, where the invader entered Portugal. Boticas, where the fear of the enemy originated legends and traditions that remain. We’ll travel through the fascinating mountainous areas and the valley of the rivers that led Soult to Braga. We will visit the resistant city of Amarante and the invaded city of Oporto where, in 1809, the tragedy of the Barcas bridge occurred. A journey where history meets the grandeur of the landscape and the flavours of northern Portugal.

Day 1: Oporto – Amarante - Chaves
- Departure from the accommodation in Oporto after breakfast (8:30 am). Visit to some of the places in the city that were closely linked with the presence of French troops in 1809. The visit begins next to the memorial to the tragedy of Ponte das Barcas. We leave to Amarante where we will have lunch. Amarante was a strategic location for the defense of the country. Intense battles were fought to delay the troops commanded by Marshal Soult. Visit to the convent, church and bridge of São Gonçalo. Departure towards Chaves. Accommodation in 4* hotel with B&B.
Day 2: Chaves - Boticas - Braga - Oporto
- Departure from Chaves after breakfast (8:30 am). After a visit to the city of Chaves, we follow the route of Napoleon's troops towards Braga. Lunch in Boticas where we will taste the famous "wine of the deads". Arrival in Porto at 6:30 pm
