Aveiro – Shaped by water
110€
per personAveiro lives embraced by water, with the many channels of its lagoon reflecting the city’s Art Nouveau and Industrial architecture. The salt pans and the Ovos-Moles are two of its hallmarks! Come with us and discover the sweet and salty spots that Aveiro has to reveal!
Located in the center of Portugal, less than an hour away from Porto, Aveiro is a peculiar city thanks to its environmental characteristics. Crossed by several channels of the lagoon, the city can be visited by boat. In ancient times, the Moliceiro, a long, narrow and colorful boat was used to transport the algae collected in the lagoon which was then used to fertilize the crop fields. Also from the water comes the salt that is collected at the salt pans that surround the city. You can get to experience how this “white gold” is born. But the salty flavors are not the only ones that make this region famous. The soft eggs (Ovos-Moles) are a true icon of the national pastry. And if you like Art Nouveau, be aware that Aveiro is a member of the Réseau Art Nouveau Network.

Morning: Oporto - Aveiro
We begin our visit to Aveiro with a boat ride on a Moliceiro, through its urban canals. Then we will visit the salt pans, where the sea salt is produced in a handmade way. Back to the city center, delight yourself with one of the most famous specialties of traditional Portuguese pastry - Ovos-Moles.
Afternoon: Aveiro - Costa Nova - Oporto
Aveiro owns some of the most interesting Art Nouveau buildings in Portugal! After lunch we will walk through the streets and discover some, like the Major Pessoa House or the City Museum. Walking along the central canal, we can admire the various bridges. Among them the Friendship Bridge, always covered by colorful ribbons! We end our sightseeing tour next to the Cathedral. After visiting the Cathedral, we will head to Costa Nova. Between the Ria and the sea you will find colorful striped houses, old haystacks where the fishermen used to keep their fishing tools.
