Fátima – Altar of the World
90€
per personLocated in the center of Portugal, Fatima is one of the most important Marian Shrines all over the world and the largest international destination for religious tourism, receiving about six million visitors/year. It’s a place of faith, prayer and spiritual reflection.
«I want to tell you that a chapel is to be built here in my honour. I am the Lady of the Rosary». This message, which reveals Our Lady’s will to Lucia, is at the origin of the Chapel of the Apparitions, the first place of devotion in Fatima. The Chapel of the Apparitions marks the exact spot where, between May and October 1917, over the holm-oaks Our Lady appeared to Francisco, Jacinto and Lucia. Today, this little chapel is the “heart” of the large Shrine of Fatima, a place of welcome for pilgrims who walk the ways of faith and find in the Cova da Iria a place of prayer and serenity.

Morning: Oporto or Lisbon - Fátima
Departure from Porto/Lisbon after breakfast.
- Arrival at Cova da Iria where you will find a large prayer area with the basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima at the eastern top and the monumental basilica of the Most Holy Trinity to the west. In the heart of the enclosure is the Chapel of the Apparitions. This small chapel marks the exact location of the apparitions of Our Lady to the three little shepherds in 1917.
During the morning, free visit to the various places of worship at the shrine where you can attend Mass. In the basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima you can find the tombs of Francisco, Jacinta and Lucia. This neo-Baroque style basilica was inaugurated in 1953. The basilica of the Holy Trinity, inaugurated in 2007, has a circular shape and a capacity for more than 8000 people. Inside, you can admire the 7.5-meter bronze crucifix suspended over the presbytery.
Afternoon: Fátima - Oporto or Lisbon
After lunch, visit to the shrine museum, where you can admire many of the valuable offerings that pilgrims have made to Our Lady. You can also appreciate the priceless Crown that the image of Our Lady wears in the great pilgrimages of Fatima. In this crown is the bullet that hit Pope John Paul II in 1981 in the assassination attempt in Rome.
- After visiting the museum, we headed towards Aljustrel, about 2 kilometres from the shrine, to see the houses where Francisco, Jacinta and Lucia were born.
